Preliminary Exam: The first stage is a preliminary exam, which is conducted to shortlist candidates for the main exam. The preliminary exam is an objective type test consisting of two papers, i.e., General Studies and General Hindi. Each paper is of 2 hours duration and carries 140 marks.
Main Exam: Candidates who clear the preliminary exam are eligible to appear for the main exam. The main exam is a descriptive type test consisting of four papers, i.e., General Studies-I, General Studies-II, General Hindi and Drafting, and Essay. Each paper is of 3 hours duration and carries 120 marks.
Interview: Candidates who clear the main exam are then called for an interview, which is the final stage of the selection procedure. The interview is conducted to assess the candidate’s personality, communication skills, and suitability for the job. The interview carries a weightage of 100 marks.
The final selection of candidates is made based on their performance in the main exam and the interview. The marks obtained in the preliminary exam are not considered for the final selection.
