To propose producing a male version of My Teenage Girl, the production company Phunky Studios met with 53 entertainment agencies in June 2022. After a month, it was revealed that more than a thousand trainees had submitted for the privately held worldwide auditions, with applicants hailing from countries such as Thailand, Australia, China, Japan, and the United States.
All males, regardless of country, fourteen years of age and older, were welcome to try out. Originally, public auditions were to be held from November 18, 2022, until December 16, 2022, to choose additional participants; however, this date was later moved to December 31.
