Claudio Aprile, a celebrity chef, restaurateur, cookbook author, and TV personality of Italian heritage, was born on January 23, 1969, in Uruguay. He is most renowned for his work as the main host and judge of CTV’s MasterChef Canada since January 2014.

Over the years, he has worked and owned several Michelin-starred restaurants. He has also held positions as head chef, owner, and manager at several Toronto restaurants, including Copetin, Colborne Lane, the Origin franchise, and Xango, which closed in 2023.

Michael Bonacini:

Born on March 1, 1960, Michael Bonacini is a Welsh-Canadian chef of Italian family ancestry. He co-founded Oliver & Bonacini Restaurants and owns eleven restaurants in Toronto, Ontario, including Jump, Canoe, Luma, and Bannock.[1]After receiving his training in London, Bonacini moved to Canada in 1985. Along with Peter Oliver, his business partner, he opened his first restaurant, Jump, in 1993.

A judge on the television food show MasterChef Canada, Bonacini also hosts a cooking show called Bonacini’s Italy where she prepares meals from various parts of Italy. In addition to being the resident chef on The Marilyn Denis Show, he was also featured on Cook Like A Chef.

Alvin Leung:

Chef and TV personality Alvin Leung King-Lon (Chinese: 梁經倫; born January 1, 1961) is an English-born Hong Kong-Canadian. He has one Michelin star at Bo London and two at his restaurant, Bo Innovation. Known by his nickname, “The Demon Chef,” he created X-Treme Chinese cuisine, which consists of dishes like edible condoms on a beach made of mushrooms.

After a year of operation, his Mayfair, London restaurant, Bo London, shuttered. Bo Shanghai, his second restaurant, opened in Shanghai, while R&D, his fourth, is in Toronto. Since the show’s 2014 launch, Leung has participated as a judge on MasterChef Canada.
