About the NSW Premier’s Spelling Bee:

The NSW Premier’s Spelling Bee competition was first established in 2004 by the NSW Department of Education and has since become a highly anticipated event on the school calendar. The competition aims to promote literacy and learning in NSW schools, as well as to encourage students to develop their spelling and vocabulary skills.

Who can participate in Premiers Spelling Bee 2024:



The NSW Premier’s Spelling Bee competition is open to all students in Years 2 to 6 who attend an NSW government or non-government school.

The competition is divided into two age categories: Junior (Years 3-4)  (Year 2 are welcome) and Senior (Years 5-6). Students can participate in the competition through their school, and schools can enter as many students as they wish.

The NSW Premier’s Spelling Bee competition consists of three stages: school, regional, and state.

In the school stage, students compete against each other within their school. The winner and runner-up of each age category then progress to the regional stage, where they compete against other students from their region. The winners of the regional stage then progress to the state final, where they compete for the title of NSW Premier’s Spelling Bee champion.

The Premier’s Spelling Bee 2024 State Finals:

In 2022, The fight out for the crown of NSW public grade schools’ best speller. Each competition’s 30 participants were selected from among the 167,700 students participating throughout the state’s 1700 Regional Finals.

The exciting Premier’s Spelling Bee State Finals were broadcast once more by ABC. Josh Szeps announced the Junior category for the students. After 11 rounds, Saarth Deo from Wentworthville Public School emerged victorious, followed by Isaac Hood from Jesmond Public School.

Toni Matthews announced the ten rounds of the senior competition at 1:30. Wilson Han, a student at St. Ives North Public School, emerged victorious over Vishnu Visweswaran, a student at John Palmer Public School.

Q) Who is eligible to compete in Premiers Spelling Bee 2024?

Ans- All NSW government primary, central, and community schools are eligible to participate in the Premier’s Spelling Bee.
