NOTICE ABOUT GURKHA RECRUITING:
The Recruit Intake 2023 Community Briefing will be concurrently held in British Camp Pokhara and British Camp Dharan between 19 to 23 April 2021. Interested Potential Recruits and their parents are welcome to attend this event and gain as much information as possible about Gurkha Recruiting (Recruit Intake 2023).
Due to Corona Pandemic, there will be a maximum of 50 to 60 personnel in a group. It will be on a ‘first come first serve basis. In order to prevent COVID-19 from spreading, the event will be restricted to Nepal Government’s COVID-19 Protocol, which we have taken strict measures to make sure that everyone is safe. Hence, all attendees are to maintain Social Distance and wear face masks throughout the event.

The Royal Gurkha Rifles (RGR) recruits soldiers from Nepal. To join the RGR, candidates must go through a rigorous selection process that tests their physical and mental strength, as well as their commitment to the values and ethos of the regiment.

- Candidates must have a minimum school leaving certificate 3rd or its equivalent from the reputed board or university.

Physical Requirements:
- Chest: Minimum 79 cm.
- Height: Minimum 158 cm (5 fit 2 cm)
- Weight: Minimum 50 Kg.
- Eyesite: Contact lance/ Glasses/ Laser Eye Surgery/ are not allowed.
- Teeth: Not more than 4 faults (filling, gaps, or false teeth).

Potential recruits attending Regional and Central selections should note the following for the Medical:
- If you had any Surgery, 3 months should have elapsed since the surgery, please bring any medical documentation to help the medics decide on your suitability.
- Do no strenuous activity 3 days before Regional Selection or you may fail the medical urine test.
- Do not take high levels of sugar 3 days prior to Regional Selection or you may fail the medical urine test.
- Do not expose your ears to loud noises (E.g. Loud music, Heavy machinery) 3 days prior to Regional Selection or it may affect your ear examination.
- Do not put things in your ears as you could temporarily damage them and fail the ear examination.
