UP PCSJ stands for Uttar Pradesh Provincial Civil Service (Judicial) Examination. It is conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) for the recruitment of Civil Judges in the subordinate judiciary of Uttar Pradesh.

The selection process of UP PCSJ involves the following stages:

  1. Preliminary Exam: The preliminary exam is conducted in an objective type format and consists of two papers – General Knowledge and Law. The total marks for the exam are 300, and the duration of each paper is 2 hours.
  2. Main Exam: The main exam is a subjective type exam and consists of four papers – General Knowledge, Language, Substantive Law, and Procedure and Evidence. The total marks for the exam is 1100, and the duration of each paper is 3 hours.
  3. Interview: Candidates who qualify in the main exam are called for an interview, which is conducted for a total of 100 marks.

Based on the performance of candidates in the main exam and interview, a final merit list is prepared, and candidates are selected for appointment as Civil Judges in the subordinate judiciary of Uttar Pradesh.
